This is a first in my nearly 22 years in sending this Update to all of you. Below is most recent Update sent on August 31st and today’s thoughts are same as below (please read again) with the exception of language highlighted in yellow.
First, Middle East tensions need no commentary. Second, bulk of hurricane season is over with no impact on futures pricing.
I strongly recommend locking in your natural gas and electricity rates today.
From 8-31-2023:
Good Afternoon,Labor Day is here and it is time to think about upcoming winter heating costs (your price for natural gas) along with electricity costs. At one time winter was the season when our only concern was (high) price of natural gas however, it’s now the season when electricity rates spike to their highest prices of the year. Past two winters bare this out. If you were not on a fixed rate plan you paid dearly. Simply stated you cannot head into winter without locking in your natural gas and electricity price. Global tensions continue as Russia/Ukraine war rages on; Middle East tensions always exist; we’re heading into height of hurricane season in the Gulf where energy production can be affected; and then there’s winter itself, how cold will it be. Consumers in the US and Europe were spared big-time last winter with warmer-than-normal temperatures. Predictions for this winter are mixed however you must be ready.Regarding electricity costs and push for renewable energy, please click on link below. Tremendous costs for consumers. Time to lock in your electricity rate.
