As we head into 2026 we continue to deal with high electricity pricing with no indication of lower pricing on the horizon. We are in a new “stratosphere” due to multiple factors mentioned in previous Updates. Driving factors continue to be increased consumer demand, AI demands and transition to renewable energy sources. Closure of reliable power generation plants in anticipation of renewable energy sources filling the void simply has not materialized as once promised. Electricity supply and its source of generation is not as certain as in the past, markets are volatile, contributing to higher prices.
Natural gas is higher than year ago entering 2026 although nothing in comparison with electricity. Barring any significant long term cold here in the Northeast, pricing should be manageable through the winter.
Wishing all of you a happy holiday season and all the best in 2026. For me, it’s Christmas and once again we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He came into this world so that we may receive the gift of eternal life; His peace is available to anyone who calls upon His name.
Best always to you and yours.
Regards,
John Thomas
