Per the attached below, you will note a significant drop in natural gas futures pricing over the last 30 days, with the January contract falling by 35%. We usually do not see such a large drop during the month of December.
Gas in storage for winter use is adequate and helps stabilize pricing. Currently we’re experiencing seasonable temperatures with a large cold mass about to take hold. It will not last long and is not affecting downward trend of futures pricing.
Here is information from NatGasWeather: “One of the warmest patterns of last 40 years (is forecast) for final few days of December into early January. How long this warmer than normal extends into January will be of great interest.” This is the main driver of market pricing.
Christmas is here and we’re about to enter 2023. The year flew by. As always Christmas for me is reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His message of hope in a broken world. He is my Savior and Lord and offers the world true peace as only He can give.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah, all the best in 2023!

John Thomas
