We continue to experience record high energy prices across the board with no clear end in sight. Taking things day-to-day may be the best (or only) policy these days, we will see.
Natural gas is a significant source of energy for electricity generation. Over recent weeks U.S. power generators used more natural gas due to low wind power generation, and drought conditions has resulted in less hydropower generation. This situation affects amount of gas available to be put in underground storage for winter consumption at a time when storage levels are close to 20% less than year ago levels. In addition we continue to export record levels of liquified natural gas to Europe to help with their energy problems. Supply concerns send futures pricing upward. Please contact me anytime with questions or concerns.
