Natural gas futures have fallen significantly since last contacting you at Thanksgiving due in large part to warmer-than-normal weather across the country. December futures contract closed at 5.45/Dth and currently the January contract is at 3.78 (30% lower) and will expire/settle next week. With the 10-day forecast absent of significant cold we can expect stable pricing to continue. Any change however for colder weather, particularly this time of year can result in sudden upside swing.
Another pricing factor to consider is record high exports of liquified natural gas. Europe’s natural gas crisis has resulted in record high pricing for our natural gas, this should continue over the coming months. We’ll see how this affects our country’s storage and supply situation.
Please contact me with any questions concerning your personal situation. Wishing everyone a happy holiday season. For me it’s Christmas and time to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He came into this world saying “my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth.” With all we have been through for nearly two years, I am grateful to have and experience His peace.

John Thomas, Upstate Utilities
