Electricity and Natural Gas Update – September 2021

Posted on 13 September 202115 November 2021 By pnccadmin

Since August 1st we have seen a big run up in natural gas futures pricing (see attached) for a variety of reasons:

  • the U.S. continues to export record volume of natural gas overseas;
  • lower than normal storage gas levels heading into winter;
  • warmer-than-normal temperatures forecast through September; and
  • slow recovery of production and processing of natural gas due to Hurricane Ida.

Combination of these factors has resulted in 7-year high for natural gas futures pricing. Most of you are set with fixed rate contracts and are fine. Should you have any questions regarding your personal contract situation please contact me.

Regards,
John Thomas
