Energy pricing is moving higher, electricity and natural gas included. Natural gas is used extensively in generating electricity and with its notable year-to-date increase (see attached futures report) consumers are seeing or will see higher utility bills. Bottom line, demand is high and supply is tight due to increased exports of liquefied natural gas, increased exports to Mexico and decreased imports from Canada.
I often mention hurricane season and its potential impact on gas and electricity pricing. If we have an active hurricane season (some say we’re overdue) and given current circumstances, we’re in for pricing not seen in a while. Inflation is here and it’s real, that in itself means higher pricing. Protect yourself and lock in your electricity and natural gas rates.
