The story of the week has to be the historic deep freeze in Central USA and severe problems in Texas. Spot natural gas pricing in Texas spiked to unseen, unrecorded pricing resulting in the highest ever customer pricing for electricity and natural gas.
We in the Northeast experienced tremendous spikes in electricity and gas pricing in early 2014 due to sustained below average temperatures. As most of you know I continually advocate for fixed rate contracts that guarantee you will never be subject to weather related price spikes. Should the Northeast experience sustained cold again you can be sure pricing will again spike and the only way to protect yourself is to sign a fixed rate contract.
Market rate electricity supply pricing here in the Capital Region is as high as it’s been in some time as a result of few weeks of cold temperatures in February. The Northeast outlook calls for warmer than normal temperatures sustained through mid-March 2021. I anticipate favorable fixed rate pricing for forward months,
I’ll be contacting some of you regarding electricity and gas supply renewal options.

John Thomas
