February 2019 Electricity and Natural Gas Update

Posted on 14 February 201914 February 2019 By pnccadmin

Click here for an initial showing of 2019 natural gas monthly futures numbers – February 12, 2019 settlement numbers.  These numbers are baseline going forward in 2019. Due to lack of sustained cold and periodic warm ups in the Northeast, we have not experienced significant price spikes so far this winter, in fact futures have fallen from early-January highs. This is not to say however that consumption of natural gas is slack; for week ending 2/1/2019 natural gas in storage was 6% lower than year ago and 17% lower than five-year average. Current forecasts calling for colder weather over next few weeks likely will continue these year ago and five-year average deficits.

Please contact John with questions regarding your current gas and electricity supply contracts.
